Asking for Directions

People are usually helpful when you ask for should try to have the exact address and be as specific as phone directories are the most common source of mber that many cities and some towns are built in le will often tell you,for example,to go two blocks and turn right.通常來說當問路的時候，人們是很樂意相告的。你要儘量掌握確切地址。要注意，有些城市是按街區建造的，人們經常會這樣告訴你，過兩個街區，然後向右轉。

那麼今天我們就一起來學習在美國問路的一些方式及常用句型。

A:Excuse e is the Park, please?

B:Turn left at the second light and then go straight for two blocks.

A:Thank you.

B:That's ok.

首先要注意的是“Excuse me.”這個習慣用法，在用英語交際時，應注重禮貌。Excuse me.是很常見的一句禮貌用語，意思是“勞駕或者請問”，常用於向陌生人詢問，請人讓路，要求插話時爲了引起別人注意的一句話。That’s OK.意爲不用謝,與You are welcome.意思相似。

實際生活中，要用英語問路時，首先問路的人最好停下來或者是緩步的走近你要詢問的人，表情不要太緊張，一定不要急急忙忙的走向別人，否則別人會懷疑你的動機。需要注意的是，問話的時候應該與對方保持一定的距離，尤其是當被詢問的對象是一位女性時，要特別注重這一點，否則會使對方會覺得不自在，甚至會感到你不禮貌。

對話中Where is the Park, please?請問，公園在哪裏？這是問路時的一種表達方式，其他方式還有：How can I get to the Zhongshan Park, please？請問，去中山公園怎麼走？其中的How can I get to…？意爲“去…怎麼走？”需要注意的是，指路時，可以說“Turn right.”（向右轉），“Turn left.”（向左轉）。“Turn back.”向後轉）和“Go straight on.”（筆直走）。

首先Stay for a while通常指五到十分鐘的時間，不會太久。遇見某樣東西，可以用hit這個字，如hit the traffic light, hit the stop sign等等。而traffic light也有人說成light,或stoplight。

如果要去的地方很偏僻或者知道得不很具體，那最好先問清楚那個地址附近的有標誌性的建築物或者有名的街道，到達之後再細問具體的地址。
