Sichuan University(SCU)is a national key university under the direct administration of the State Ministry of Education and one of the State“Project 2 d s”and“Project 985”universities enjoying privileged construction

四川大學是教育部直屬全國重點大學，是國家“211工程”和“985工程”重點建一設的大學。

SCU is located in Chengdu，。culturally and historically noticeable cent to the Jinjiang River and its tributary Jiang'an River. The University consists of 3 Campuses of Wangjiang，Huaxi and Jiang'an，covering an area of over 470. 2 hectares with a total floorage of 2. 35 million square meters. SCU is the ideal place for academic studies and researches with the campuses set in agreeable environment of green plants，lawns and trees.

四少11大學地處中國歷史文化名城—“天府之國”的成都市區。學校設望江、華西和江安等三個校區，佔地面積470. 2公傾，校舍建築面積235萬平方米。校園環境幽雅、花木繁茂、碧草如茵、景色宜人，是讀書治學的理想園地。

At present，SCU has 30 colleges and eleven disciplines of literature，science，technology，medicine，economics，management, law, history，philosophy, agriculture and education. There are 15 key disciplines at the national level，14“Project 211”key construction disciplines，66 key disciplines at the provincial and ministerial level，27 first-category disciplines to grant Doctor's degree and Master's degree，213 doctor programs，330 master programs，6 specialized degree programs，118 bachelor programs，21 post-doctorate research stations，6 national bases for personnet training in basic disciplines and scientific research and a national base for the improvernent of college students' cultural qualities.

學校設30個學院，學科覆蓋了文、理、工、醫、經、管、法、史、哲、農、教等11個門類，有15個國家重點學科，14個“211工程”重點建設學科，66個部省級重點學科，27個一級學科博、碩士學位授權點，213個博士點，330個碩士點，8個專業學位點，118個本科專業，21個博士後科研流動站，6個國家人才培養和科學研究及課程教學基地，一個國家大學生文化素質教育基地。

SCU has a current total staff of 11 357，among whom 1 195 are professors，2 204 associate professors，9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering，22 special academicians，2 outstanding professors of liberal arts，1 outstanding professor of science，17 members of the Academic Degrees Committee and the Discipline Appraisal Group under the State Council，3 top scientists of the national“973 project”，12 posts of the“Cheungkong Scholars Program”for specially engaged professors plus 4 lecture professors.

學校有在職教職工11 357人，其中教授1 195人，副教授2 204人，中國科學院和中國工程院院士9人、特聘院士22人，文科傑出教授2人，理科傑出教授1人，國務院學位委員會委員及學科評議組成員17人，國家“973計劃”項目首席科學家3人，“長江學者獎勵計劃”特聘教授12人和講座教授4人。

SCU has 35 523 full-time undergraduates，16 117 master and doctor degree candidates and 565 overseas students. In addition，SCU has students of adult education and on-line education.

學校有全日制普通本科生35 523人，碩博士生16 117人，外國留學生565人。此外，學校還有成人高等教育學生和網絡教育學生。

The university library has a collection of 5.5 million university museum is the only one of its kind in China with a comprehensive collection of cultural relics over 40 000 pieces，and animal and plant specimens over 600 000 pieces，ranking first in its holdings among the others in China.

四川大學圖書館藏書550萬餘冊，校博物館是國內高校僅有的綜合性博物館，珍藏文物4萬餘件。自然博物館收藏動、植物標本60萬餘件(份)。

SCU makes great effort to seize the chance of the new round of the deveiopment of higher education and the great exploration of the west China and build into the first-rate and research-oriented university.

Glorious History

歷史變遷

1896 Sichuan Zhong-Xi Xuetang(Sichuan Chinese and Western School)，the precedessor of SCU，was established.

1896年四川大學的前身四川中西學堂創建。

1902 It was merged with Jinjiang Shuyuan and Zunjing Shuyuan to form Sichuan Great Xuetang.

1902年四川中西學堂與錦江書院、尊經書院合併成立四川大學堂。

1916 It was renamed National Chengdu Normal Academy

1916年更名爲國立成都高等師範學校。

1926 It was renamed National Chengdu University.

1926年更名爲國立成都大學。

1931 It was merged with National Chendgu Normal University and Public Sichuan University to form National Sichuan University.

1931年與國立成都師範大學、公立四川大學合併成立國立四川大學。

1950 It was renamed Sichuan University.

1950年更名爲四川大學。

1994 Sichuan University and Chengdu University of Science and Technology were merged to form Sichuan United University.

1994年與成都科技大學合併成立四川聯合大學。

1998 It was resumed its name as Sichuan University.

1998年更名爲四川大學。

2000 Sichuan University was merged with West China University of Medical Science into the present Sichuan University.

2000年與華西醫科大學合併組建新的四川大學。
