基本概況

Tongji University is one of the leading universities directly under the State Ministry of Education. it was founded in 1907 as Tongji German Medical School by Erich Paulun，a German doctor in Shanghai. The name Tongji suggests cooperating by riding the same boat.

同濟大學是教育部直屬重點大學，創建於1907年。一早期爲德國醫生在上海創辦的德文醫學堂，取名“同濟”意蘊合作共濟。

It has developed into a comprehensive univarsity which offers programs in nine disciplines of science，engineering，medicine，liberal Arts，lawphilosophy，economics，management and education. As a univarsity which had established a reputation for its research，Tongji became one of the first group of universities which were authorized by the China State Council to establish its Graduate School. As one of the leading universities，it was successful in its application for the“211 Program”which provided universities with substantial government fund.

目前是一所擁有理、工、醫、文、法、哲、經濟、管理、教育9大學科門類的綜合性大學作爲研究型大學，學校是首批被國務院批准成立研究生院的高校之一;作爲全國重點大學，學校被列入國家財政立項資助的“211工程”和國家教育振興行動計劃與地方重點共建的高水平大學行列。

Tongji University is located in the northeast of Shanghai with four campuses. It now occupies a total area of over 247 hectares with a floor space up to 1379271 square meters. The university library has a floor space of 71400 square meters and the total collection of the university library reaches over 3 .17 million volumes. In addition，there are 2 495 kinds of Chinese periodicals，840 kinds of foreign periodicals and more than one million electric books.

同濟大學地處上海市東北隅，分四個校區，佔地面積247公頃，建築總面積1379271平方米。同濟大學圖書館總面積71400平方米館藏圖書317萬多冊，中文現刊2 495種，外文現刊840種，電子圖書100萬多冊。

The university has School of Architecture and Urban Planning，School of Civil Engineering，School of Economics and Management School of Electronics and Infor motion Engineering，School of Environmental Science and Engineering，Mechanical School，School of Material Science and Engineering，School of Traffic and Transportation，School of Foreign languages，School of Liberal Arts and Law，MedicalSchool，School of SciencesSchool of Software EngineeringSchool of Ocean and Earth Science. In addition，there are Institute of Further Education，Institute of Higher Technology，Institute of Vocational and Technical Education，Institute of Education，Women's College，Institute of Automobile e are also Sino-Ger-man Institute which is authorized by Chinese and German governments to run postgraduate courses and French Institute of Engineering and Management jointly established by Tongji University and ParisTech.

同濟大學現有建築與城市規劃、土木工程、經濟與管理、電子與信息工程、環境科學與工程、機械工程、材料科學與工程、交通運輸、外國語、文法、醫學、理學、汽車、海洋與地球科學、生命科學與技術、傳播與藝術、女子學院及軟件學院等學院，還建有繼續教育、高等技術、職業技術教育、國際文化交流、網絡教育、汽車營銷及電影學院等，學校還設有經中德政府批准合作培養碩士研究生的中德學院、與法國巴黎高科大學集團合作舉辦的中法工程和管理學院等。

Tongji University offers 82 undergraduate specialties，209 masfier's programs， 8 authorized master degree specialties，78 doctoral programs and 13 post-doctoral research university now registers over 59437 postgraduates，22141 undergraduates，13 students at all levels，including 17284 students of adult education 395 and 1829 overseas e are over 8 182 academic staff for teaching and research，among whom there are 5 members of Chinese Academy of Sciences，7 members of Chinese Academy of Engineering，584 professors and over 1 300 associate professors.

目前學校共有82個本科專業、209個碩士點、8個碩士專業學位授權點，博士授權點'78個，13個博士後流動站。學校有各類學生59 437人，其中研究生17 395人，本專科生22 141人，成人教育生13 284人，留學生1 829人。1教學科研人員8 182人，其中有中科院院士5人，工程院院士7人.教授等正高級職稱者584人，副教授等副高級職稱者1 300多人。

As one of the state leading centers for scientific research，the universify has 5 stafie key laboratories and engineering research centers，9 more at the provincial and ministerial level. There are also 5 university hospitals located in different university has developed rapidly in all respects since the founding of China，especially since the country's opening-up policy. It is now a first-class at home and world-renowned comprehensive university with seven disciplines in engineering，science，medicine management，arts，law and economics with strength inarchitecture，civil engineering and oceanography.

作爲國家重要的科研中心之一，學校有國家級重點實驗室和工程研究中心5，省部級9個。學校還設有5個附屬醫院 新中國成立後，尤其是改革開放以來，同濟大學在各個領域取得迅猛發展‘。現在，同濟大學已經成爲以建築、土木、海洋爲主，工理、醫、管、文、法、經濟爲輔的國內一流、國際著名的綜合性大學。

Glorious History

歷史變遷

1907 Tongji University，formerly Tongji German Medical School was established.

1907年同濟大學的前身同濟德文醫學堂成立。

1912 The school got its new name as Tongji Medical and Engineering.

1912年學校更名爲同濟醫工學堂。

1927 it was renamed National Tongji University.

1927年學校更名爲國立同濟大學。

1937 During the Anti一apanese War(1937一1945)，the university campus wasmoved from Shanghai first to Zhejiarag Province，then to Jiangxi Province and Yunnan Province and later to Sichuan Province.

1937年抗日戰爭時期，同濟大學被迫先後遷往浙江金華 、江西贛州、雲南昆明、四川宜賓。

1946 It was eventually moved back to Shanghai.

1946年同濟大學遷回上海。

1996 The university merged with Shanghai Institute of Urban Construction and Shanghai Institute of Building Materials

1996年原上海建材工業學院和上海城建學院並人。

2000 The expanded Tongji University merged again with Shanghai Railway Universify.

2000年原上海鐵道大學與同濟大學合併。
