基本概況China University of Mining and Technology(CUMT) is a state key university under direct administration of the Ministry of Education and one of the universities listed in the state“Project 211” is the first institulion of higher learning in mining and technology of China.
中國礦業大學是教育部直屬的全國重點大學，是國家“211工程”重點建設的高校之一。中國礦業大學是中國第一所礦業高等學府。
CUMT is located in Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province and boasts two beautiful campuses(namely Wenchang Campus of 106 hectares and South lake Campus of 191 hectares) occupying the area of 297 hectares with convenient and spacious sports area as well as entertainment and recreation facilities. The floor space reaches up to 1 .08 million square meters. The library is furnished with an automated system and has a holding of 1 897 000 volumes in total.
中國礦業大學位於江蘇省徐州市，校園佔地面積297公頃(文昌校區106公頃，南湖校區191公頃)，以及配套齊全的文化、體育、生活設施。校舍建築面積108萬平方米。圖書館藏書189. 7萬冊。After more than ninety years of development，CUMT has formed its discipline system with engineering as its core，coal mining as its characteristic，featuring science，engineering，humanities，management, law and economics. CUMT current1y owns 19 schools with 59 undergraduate programs. There are 9 doctoral and masters programs in the first level，50 doctoral programs，96 master's programs and 4 on-the-job master's degrees. CUMT boasts 7 national key disciplines，8 provincial key disciplines，7 professor-posts for“Changjiang Scholar"，9 post-dolor research stations. In addition，there are 1 state key laboratory，1 state research center of science and technology，2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education，7 provincial key laboratories and 3 provincial engineering centers.
中國礦業大學經過90多年的發展，已經形成了以工科爲主、以礦業爲特色，理工文管法經等多學科協調發展的學科專業體系。目前，學校設有19個學院，59個本科專業；設有9個具有博士、碩士學位整體授予權的一級學科,50個博士點，96個碩士點，4個在職攻讀碩士學位招生類別；現有7個國家級重重點學科，8個省部級重點學科，7個“長江學者獎勵計劃特聘教授”崗位設置學科，9個博士後科研流動站:現有一個國家重點實驗室和一個國家工程研究中心，2個教育部重點實驗室、7個省部級重點實驗室和3個省部級工程技術中心。
CUMT has a well-balanced faculty team in age and specialties，being equipped with excellent academic capability and creative spirit. There are more than 3 000 faculty members，including 1 395 full-time teachers，202 of them are full professors，328 are associate professors，145 are doctoral supervisors，298 are master supervisors，5 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering，1 awarled with China's Young Scientist，2 teachers awarded the honor of“Outstanding College Lecturers of the Country"，2 awarded the honor of“State Model Lecturer"，2 awarded the honor of "Stater Excellent Lecture"，3 awarded the Nation May Day Working Medal，7 teachers selected by national“Millions of Talents Program"，10 National Young and Middle-age Experts with Outstanding Contributions，10 recipients of National Outstanding Youth Foundation，79 teachers selected by Jiangsu Province in "333 Talents Project" and 75 in“Qinglan Project"，and 256 experts enjoying government special allowance.
中國礦業大學擁有一支思想素質好、學術水平高、結構比較合理的師資隊伍。現有教職工3 000多人，其中專任教師1395人;在專任教師中，教授202人，副教授328人，博士生導師145人，碩士生導師298人;先後有5人當選中國工程院院士，一人獲首屆中國青年科學家獎，2人獲首屆全國百名高校教學名師獎，2人被評爲“全國模範教師”,2人被評爲“全國優秀教師'`,3人獲全國五一勞動獎章,7人被列爲國家“百千萬人才工程“培養對象，10人被評爲國家有突出貢獻的中青年專家，10人獲國家傑出青年科學甚金，79人次人選江蘇省"333人才工程”,75人次和6個學術梯隊入選江蘇省“青藍工程" , 256人享受國務院頒發的政府特殊津貼CUMT has a total enrollment of 36 000 students of all kinds，including 626 Ph. D candidates，3 599 master candidates，22 701 undergraduates and 172 overseas students.
目前，學校共有各類學生36 000多人，其中博士生626人，碩士生3 599人，普通本專科生22 701人，留學生172人。CUMT set its general program of development of the new century in 2002 and the University is striving to build itself into a multi-discipline，research-oriented universify leading in the field of coal mining technology well known in China and around the world in ten years.
2002年，學校制定了新世紀總體發展規劃，將通過10年左右的努力，把中國礦業大學建設成爲一所礦業工程學科達到世界先進水平，國內外有重要影響的多科性、研究型的高水平大學。Glorious History
歷史變遷1909 The Coal Mining School in Jiaozuo，the predecessor of CUMT，was founded and later called Jiaozuo Engineering College.
1909年中國礦業大學的前身焦作路礦學堂創辦，後改稱焦作工學院。1950 China College of Coal and Mining was founded in Tianjin on the base of Jiaozuo Engineering College.
1950年以焦作工學院爲基礎在天津建立了中國礦業學院。1953 The College moved to Beijing and was renamed Beijing Coal Mining College.
1953年學校遷至北京，改稱北京礦業學院。1970 The College moved to Sichuan and was renamed Sichuang Coal Mining College.
1970年學校遷至四川，更名爲四川礦業學院。1978 With the approval of the State Coucil，it was rebuilt in Xuzhou city and revetted into the name of China College of Coal and Mining.
1978年經國務院批准，學校遷到江蘇省徐州市重建，恢復中國礦業學院校名。1988 It changed its name into China University of Mining and Technology.
1988年學校更名爲中國礦業大學。
