基本概況

Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) is a key university directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and one of the first group universities listed in the national"Project 211"and"Project 985" is a comprehensive university with multi-disciplines of science，engineering，meditine，art and management and one of the largest and first-rate institutions of higher learning of China.

華中科技大學是國家教育部直屬的全國重點大學，是首批列人國家"211工程"重點建設的大學，國家"985工程"建設高校，是涵蓋理、工、醫、文、管等多學科的綜合性大學，是目前國內規模最大、水平一流的高等學府之一。

HUST is located in Hubei Province's capital Wuhan known as"the thoroughfare leading to nine provinces" campus covers an area of over 467 hectares. The university's library of three buildings with advanced facilities has a collection of 3.49 million ranks at the top of China's leading universities in comprehensive strength. In the University，there are eleven faculties including philosophy，economics，law，education，literature，science，engineering，medicine，management，history and agriculture. It offers a variety of programs，including 78 undergraduate programs，248 Master's programs，173 doctoral programs and 22 post doctoral research centers. It has 4 state key laboratories，4 national engineering research centers and 22 key laboratories in the provincial and ministerial level.

華中科技大學位於"九省通衡"的湖北省武漢市，校園總面積467公頃。擁有功能完備的現代化圖書館三座，館藏圖書349萬冊。華中科技大學學科齊全，結構合理，有哲學、經濟學、法學、教育學、文學、理學、工學、醫學、管理學、史學、農學等十一大門類。設有本科專業78個，碩士點248個，博士點173個，博士後科研流動站22個。有國家重點實驗室4個，國家工程研究中心5個，省部級重點實驗室22個。

It has more than 13 000 staff members，including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences，9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering，610 doctoral supervisors，1 025 professors and 1 387 associate professors.

現有教職工13 000餘人，其中中國科學院院士7人，中國工程院院士9人，博士生導師610人，教授1 025人，副教授1 387人。

The full time students are over 60 000(including students of adult education and on-line education)，of whom over 35 398 are undergraduates 18 884 postgraduates，:}47 students from Hong Kong，Macao，Taiwan regions and foreign countries.

在校學生(含成教生、網絡生)60 000餘人，其中本科生35 398人，研究生18 884人，外國留學生及港澳臺學生547人。

Glorious History

歷史變遷

1953 Huazhong Institute of Technology，the predecessor of RUST，was founded.

1953年華中科技大學的前身華中_I}學院建校。

1971 most departments and staff of the former Wuhan Mechanical Institute were merged into Huazhong Institute of Technology.

1971年原武漢大學機械系、電機系等部分並人華中工學院。

1988 Huazhong Institute of Technology was renamed Huazhong University of Seience &Technology.

1988年華中工學院改名爲華中理工大學。

2000 A new Huazhong University of Science &Technology，a merger of the former HUST，the former Tongji Medical University，the former Wuhan Urban Construction Institute and the former Wuhan Science&Technology Vocational College，was established.

2000年原華中理工大學、原同濟醫科大學、原武漢城市建設學院和原科技部幹部管理學院合併成立新的華中理工大學。
