1. common decency

decency有正派；正經的意思，正義感就可以說a sense of decency。

而複數的the decencies則表示“規矩；禮儀；行爲準則”：

再補充一個和common相關的實用表達，常識的英語是“common knowledge”：

It's common knowledge that they live together.

他們住在一起，這事兒盡人皆知。

2. glimpse

a glimpse of表示“一瞥”，來看一下它的衍生含義，“短暫的感受（或領會）”：

This biography offers a few glimpses of his life before he became famous.

這部傳記展示了他成名前的一些生活情況。

瞥一眼還可以用“glance”：

He glanced up from his book as I passed.

我走過的時候，正埋頭讀書的他擡頭瞥了我一眼。

3. down the drain

drain作名詞的意思是“排水管，下水道；下水井”，也可以形容“使人疲倦的事物”，down the drain表示“打水漂，付諸東流”。

drain作動詞表示“消耗”，drain (sth) away這個短語就形容“（使）徹底消失；（使）流失”。

Stretching out her tired limbs, she felt the tensions of the day drain away.

伸展一下疲憊的四肢，她覺得白天的壓力也都隨之消散了。
