Laugh是笑，bank是銀行， to laugh all the way to the bank，按字面來解釋就是一路笑着去銀行。但是，這個習慣用語的真正含義是，一個人一開始被別人看不起，可是後來正是這個人發了財，飛黃騰達，十分得意。

我們來聽一個例句。有個年輕人決定把錢投資在一部電影上，家裏人都笑他傻。結果呢？我們來聽聽他是怎麼說的。

My brothers laughed at me for investing in a movie called The Matrix. They said I would lose all my money while they got rich in real estate. Well, let me tell you, The Matrix turned out to be a huge success! Now I'm the one who's laughing all the way to the bank.

這個年輕人說：我幾個哥哥都笑話我把錢投資在The Matrix這部電影上。他們說，我的錢會賠光的，而他們的房地產投資一定會發財。我告訴你，結果這部電影一舉成功，現在發財得意的是我，而不是他們。

說來也是，當初誰也不知道這部電影的賣座率會如何。可是它居然一炮打響。這年輕人當時可能也只是孤注一擲吧？

laugh all the way to the bank的出處：

Laugh all the way to the bank是20世紀六十年代開始流行的，所以是一個比較現代的說法。你知道嗎，另外還有一個說法，那就是：cry all the way to the bank--哭着去銀行。我知道。但是不管是cry，或是laugh，這兩種說法的意思是一樣的。

對，只是說cry all the way to the bank是具有諷刺性的，而laugh all the way to the bank是直接了當的，也是大家普遍使用的。

我們再來聽一個例子。在美國有不少理財公司，這些公司的專業人員專門給人們提供投資的建議。我們來聽聽一個投資者是怎麼說的。

I lost a lot of money due to their investment advice. The stocks they recommended were disastrous. But, what do they care? They still collect their fees. They're laughing all the way to the bank!

這個人說：由於他們的投資建議，我損失了很多錢。他們推薦的股票一敗塗地。可他們纔不管呢，照樣收費，他們現在肯定很得意呢。
