點滴英語天天學第4課:acquaintance(2)

在今天的課堂上，我要來學習的詞語是：acquaintance。如果您想用acquaintance來表示“某人與某人有點兒認識”或“某人與某人略有交情”就可以使用這個詞語。那麼，又如何具體使用它來正確表示這個意思呢？我們來看下面的例句：

e.g. At Burlington I made an acquaintance with many principal people of the province. 在伯林頓，我認識了該州許多重要人物。

e.g. Mary was left to improve her acquaintance with Robert. 留下Mary與Robert加深交往。

在上面的2個例句中，我可以看到都使用了acquaintance with someone這個名詞性短語結構，它與不同的動詞搭配當然就有着不同的意思。

在Example-1中，made an acquaintance with many principal people of the province中使用了動詞make和acquaintance with someone搭配作這個句子的謂語。What is more，我們還可看到acquaintance是一個 accountable noun（可數名詞）。由於它的音標是以元音開頭，所以還須在其前使用不定冠詞“an”。

Made an acquaintance with many principal people of the province中的made an acquaintance表示“交往，結識”的意思。其後面緊跟介詞with，with後面跟的是含有介詞短語限制的名詞短語many principal people of the province。那麼，make an acquaintance with someone的意思就是“與某人交往，結識某人”。

在Example-2中，improve her acquaintance with Robert中使用了動詞動詞improve和acquaintance with someone搭配來做這個句子的謂語。Improve one’s acquaintance with someone表示“加深與某人的交往”。Improve後面跟名詞短語her acquaintance，acquaintance後面跟介詞with，with後面跟表示人名的名詞Robert。

Juliet在此給您敲個警鐘，我們用acquaintance這個名詞來表示與某人進行膚淺的交往，一定是用acquaintance with someone這個固定的搭配模式。切記介詞是with，勿用其它介詞。
