Giving hongbao (red packets or red envelopes) during the Chinese New Year is another famous tradition. Red packets are every child's dream during the Chinese New Year. A red packet is simply a red envelope with money inside to symbolize luck and wealth. Red packets are symbolically handed out to younger generations by parents, grandparents, relatives, close neighbors and friends. The practice represents a desire for good fortune and wealth in the coming year.

在中國農曆新年發紅包是另一個著名的傳統。在中國農曆新年紅包是每一個孩子的夢想。紅包是一個簡單的紅信封裏面的裝着錢，象徵着好運和財富。紅包一般是由父母，祖父母，親戚，近鄰和朋友象徵性地發給年輕一代。這代表期盼未來的一年好運和發財。
