adorn: to make sth/sb look more attractive by decorating it or them with sth 裝飾;使生色
The hall was adorned with flowers.
大廳裝飾着鮮花。
polish: to improve a piece of writing, a speech etc by making slight changes to it before it is completely finished 使優美,使精煉;潤飾
The speaker spent several days polishing her lecture.
演講者花了幾天時間潤飾她的演講稿。
注：adorn 的意思是“修飾，裝飾，打扮”不能用於文章、作品的“潤色”。polish 的意思是“擦亮（機器），拋光（器具），使......優美，使（語言、文字）洗練，潤飾(文章，作品)。
