新概念英語第四冊學習筆記：第7課 Bats

第一段語法符號講解

1. sounds serve as…we have to turn to…in which…

複合句，以第一個 and 分爲前後兩句，第一句爲主謂賓結構，第二句爲主謂賓+定語從句結構，定語從句爲主謂賓結構.

第二段語法符號講解

1. we must turn first to inventions…

簡單句，主謂賓結構，只不過句首的目的狀語裏面，有一個 what 引導的介詞賓語，有主謂賓結構.

2. Everyone knows that if…

複合句，主句爲主謂+賓語從句結構，賓語從句自身爲主謂結構，只不過該賓語從句裏面包含一個 if 引導的條件狀語從句，亦爲主謂結構.

3. time will elapse…

簡單句，爲主謂結構，句首爲比較狀語.

4. A sound will be reflected…and the depth can be calculated…

並列句，兩句均爲主謂結構.

5. apparatus was born…

簡單句，so 引導了倒裝結構，謂語提前了.

後面 now…ships 的定語，可以看作是 which 引導的非限制定語從句的省略版本，which is [now] in general use in ships.

6. object will reflect a sound, varying.

簡單句，主謂賓結構，後面現在分詞作後置定語.

7. fish will do this.

簡單句，主謂賓結構.

8. it is a step…

簡單句，主系表結構.

9. it is possible not only to locate a shoal but to tell if…

複合句，主句主系表結構，該句中，not only…echo 是真正的主語，it 爲形式主語，而該主語中，有一個 if 引導的從句作 tell 的賓語. if 句亦爲主系表結構.

第三段語法符號講解

1. It has been found…that bats emit squeaks and they can…

複合句，主句爲 that 引導的主語從句到句末. 在該主語從句中，由第一個 and 連接兩個並列的句子，by receiving the echoes 是後面這一句的方式狀語了，後面這一句有多個謂語，包括 can locate, can steer clear of, 以及 or 後面的 can locate.

on which 引導的定語從句修飾 insects. 介詞 on 及介詞的賓語（介賓）which 在定語從句中，放在句子前是正式用法，非正式爲 which they feed on.

複合句，主句主謂賓結構，定語從句主系表結構. 從句的 of which 是修飾 principle的定語.
