新概念英語第三冊學習筆記：第5課 The Facts

第一段詞彙解析
①journalist = reporter/correspondent。
②well-known = famous。③instructed =ordered, commissioned； instruct sb. to do sth.=tell sb. formally to do sth.。
④publish = print,issue。
⑤surrounds = encircles。
第二段詞彙解析
①set out to do sth.= decide and try to do sth.
②fired = sacked, dismissed。
③reluctantly = unwillingly。
④not only 位於句首，後面所接的句子需要部分倒轉，否定副詞位於句首也要倒裝，比如 never had I…。
⑤allow sb. to do sth.不定式作 sb.的補語，但此句被動，所以作主語 he 的補語。
⑥in which 引導的定語從句屬於“介詞+關係代詞”，這種結構只能 which 指物， whom 指人。
⑦while+doing sth.現在分詞短語作時間狀語相當於狀語從句。
