第一段詞彙解析

①inaccessible = difficult or impossible to reach。 這裏的“處女地”指尚無人到訪，而非字面意義。

②hospitable = welcoming, friendly。

③hostile = aggressive, unfriendly。

第二段詞彙解析

①表語中有一個 than 引導的方式狀語從句。

②狀語中有一個 which 引導的定語從句修飾 path。

③vicinity = neighbourhood, surrounding area。

④end abruptly = suddenly come to an end。

⑤traced = found…by following a path。

⑥eventually = finally。

第三段詞彙解析

①that 引導的賓語從句中含一個 who 引導的定語從句修飾 children，以及一個as 引導的時間狀語從句。
