You're getting on my nerves.你又開始做讓我心煩的事了。

Nerve:神經;Get on my nerves:觸動我的神經,讓我心煩。這句話比較口語化,用途很廣,既可以在真生氣時用,也可以在嬌嗔撒嬌時用。還可以說You're starting to get on my nerves.

You're really irritating me.你真讓我煩哪!

Irritate表示使人心煩,讓人着急,使人生氣的意思。

Calm down.鎮靜一些。一般是對精神上處於不安定狀態的人說的話。例如:

A:Oh my God! Oh, no! What am I going to do!?哦,天哪!哦,不!我該怎麼辦呀!?

B:Just calm down.鎮靜一點!

C:What are you doing? You are driving me crazy!你簡直要讓我發瘋了!

D:Hey, you have to calm down a bit.引申用法:abit:一點;cool down別緊張,冷靜點。cool的本意是涼的,在這裏的意思是冷靜下來。當對方火氣很大時,你就可以用cool down來勸免一場舌戰。

That's not an ice thing to say.你這樣說也太失禮了。當你聽到不敬的話語時就可以用這句話來反擊。例如:

A:Why are you so stupid?

B:Hey,that’s not an ice thing to say.

引申用法:

Don't over do it.別說得太過分了。

比如有人沒禮貌地說:Why are you so fat?你就可以用上面兩句予以回擊。

Don't get so uptight1.何必當真了呢?用up tight來表示“緊張的”、“焦急的”、“在意的”狀態。生活中朋友之間可能會開開玩笑,如果朋友當真了,你就可以說:Hey, don’t get so uptight.表示:別太在意啦,我剛剛只是開玩笑的哦。例如:

A:What? You mean I'm too short?什麼?你是說我太矮了?

B:Don't get so uptight.別當真嘛。

引申用法:

Don't get so worked up.放鬆點兒。

Don't be so stiff.別這麼較真兒。

Loosen up.隨便點,放輕鬆。

I didn't mean to hurt you./ I meant no harm.我沒有故意傷害你的意思。

另外還能用Kick back!表示放鬆點兒,悠閒自得地、放鬆地、舒適地。含有不緊張,精神上放鬆的語感。Just relax、Take it easy、Just hang loose等都是放鬆點的意思。例如:

A:Kick back, make yourself at home.隨便些,就像在自己家裏一樣。

B:Thanks. 346. Can't we talk it over?我們就不能好好談談嗎?

talk over表示“通過相互談話達到了相互理解”。有人對你兇巴巴地說話時,你可以先用calm down讓其冷靜下來,然後瞭解原因的時候,你就可以說:Can’t we talk it over?

例如:

A:It's over. Get out!一切都結束了!給我出去!

B:Can't we talk it over?

引申用法:Let's work it out.我們好好解決這件事吧!這裏work out的意思是解決。

Let’s try to get along.我們試着好好相處吧。

Let’s be nice to each other.我們還是以禮相待吧。

Let's forgive and forget!過去的事就讓它過去吧。

這裏的forgive指原諒,forget指忘記。

引申用法:Let by gones be bygones.諺語,意思是過去的就讓它過去吧。

Can't we patch things up?我們就不能和好嗎?

用patch up表示平息爭吵與不合。還能說:Isn't there any way we can patch things up?就沒有什麼辦法讓我們和好嗎?

When it comes to living a healthy and confident life, real goal achievement involves much more than good intentions. For example, it is not enough to know you want to eat differently or that you want to lose weight. Motivation can be defined as an impulse to channel energy and action toward a specific goal. This means, 1) you have to know what you want and be passionate1 about it, and, 2) you have to know how to set a goal. Goal setting is a powerful skill to learn because you give yourself a specific direction and you give your energy a precise focus. 要過上健康自信的生活,僅有好的意願是不行的。例如,光知道你想改變飲食或減肥是不夠的。所謂動力就是引導你爲一個目標投入精力和行動的衝動。這就是說,1)你得知道自己想要什麼,並對此有激情;2)你得知道如何設定目標。設定目標是一種需要學習的重要技巧,因爲你得給自己一個明確的方向,爲你的精力找一個精確的焦點。(to be continued)
