Nest通常都指“巢、窩”等動物的棲身地，不過不同動物的棲身地代表的比喻意義卻不盡相同，比如：Jim喜歡的女孩子拒絕了他，He thought the girl would be his wife-to-be, only to find a mare's nest.(他一直以爲那個女孩會嫁給他，到頭來卻是空歡喜一場)，但這件事他可不想聲張出去，以免foul his own nest(家醜外揚)，或者put his head into a hornet's nest(招惹是非)。
