Orson 採取了敲詐.

resort to something:to make use of something, especially something bad, as a means of achieving something, often because there is no other possible solution 訴諸;求助於;依靠

They felt obliged to resort to violence. 他們覺得有必要訴諸暴力.

We may have to resort to using untrained staff. 我們也許只能使用未受過訓練的員工了.

on hold:delayed until a later time or date 推遲;中斷

She put her career on hold to have a baby. 她中斷了事業以便生孩子.

occur to somebody:of an idea or a thought 觀念或想法 to come into your mind 被想到;出現在頭腦中

The idea occurred to him in a dream. 這個主意是他在夢中想到的.

It didn't occur to him that his wife was having an affair. 他沒有想到自己的妻子有婚外情.

It didn't occur to her to ask for help. 她沒想到請別人幫忙.

難道你不覺得和你的離婚律師上牀是對他最巧妙的報復嗎?

get back at somebody informal:to do something bad to somebody who has done something bad to you; to get revenge on somebody 向某人報復

I'll find a way of getting back at him! 我會想法報復他的!

她媽媽坐牢,爸爸跑路了.

walk out (on somebody) informal:to suddenly leave somebody that you are having a relationship with and that you have a responsibility for 遺棄,拋棄,捨棄,離開(某人)

How could she walk out on her kids? 她怎麼能遺棄自己的孩子呢?

keep/leave your options open:to avoid making a decision now so that you still have a choice in the future 保留選擇餘地;暫不作出決定

point:a particular time or stage of development 時刻;關頭;瞬間;階段

The climber was at/on the point of death when they found him. 當他們發現那個登山者的時候,他已奄奄一息.

We were on the point of giving up. 我們當時幾乎要放棄了.

Many people suffer from mental illness at some point in their lives. 許多人在人生的某個階段都會得精神病.

We had reached the point when there was no money left. 我們曾落到身無分文的地步.
