“努力人設”的九種英語表達
人設是一種很玄的東西，容易立起也更容易崩塌。很多明星都喜歡賣努力人設，來看一下英語怎麼說吧。
1、hardworking adj. 努力的
這個應該是最常見的了，它來自詞組work hard（努力工作），加上了ing就成了形容詞，意思就是“努力工作的；勤奮的”。
I like your down-to-earth and hardworking spirit.
我就喜歡你們這股紮紮實實埋頭苦幹的勁兒。
2、industrious adj. 勤勉的；常年奔忙的
這個形容詞來自名詞industry，它的意思是很簡單的，不就是“工業，產業”嘛。
不過作爲名詞，它還有一個意思，表示“勤勉；勤勞”。
這個時候看一下它的詞根就知道了。
indu-表示in（在裏面）， str-表示structure（構造，組織），所以說呢，industry就表示在裏面構建起各種東西（機器），這個整體就是“工業”，同時有了引申義“勤勉，勤勞”。
而-ous這個後綴也是很常見的，表示“充滿…的”、“具有……特徵的”。

所以我覺得diligent強調了一種仔細認真的努力。

4、arduous adj. 費力的；辛勤的；險峻的
這個詞跟其他表示“努力”的形容詞不一樣，
它形容的是一種很艱難的境地，一種需要很多辛勤付出的境地：difficult, needing a lot of effort and energy。
Despite very severe weather, the arduous search was maintained for seven days.
雖然氣候十分凜冽，這種辛苦的搜索，持續了七天之久。
We must persevere in the arduous work.

5、strive vi. 奮鬥；努力；力求；鬥爭
英語釋義：to try very hard to do something or to make something happen, especially for a long time or against difficulties
再看一下常見搭配：

可以看出，strive這個詞很嚴肅，描述了一種艱苦卓絕style的努力或者抗爭。

6、endeavor n./v. 努力；試圖
英語釋義：an effort or attempt to do something
這個詞表示試圖或努力做一些什麼，不像strive這類詞充滿了“艱苦奮鬥”的意味。
endeavor after wealth(happiness)
努力追求財富（幸福）
We make every endeavor to satisfy our customers.
我們盡全力使顧客滿意。
7、apply vt. 應用；塗；使專心從事
它的英語釋義是：to work at something or study something very hard。
所以可不要以爲apply只有“申請，應用”的意思，它還可以表示“勤奮工作，努力學習”哦。
看一下例句：
You will only pass your exams if you really apply yourself (to your work).
你只有全力以赴，考試才能及格。
因此，apply的常見搭配是：apply yourself或者是apply yourself/something to something/to doing something。
8、exert vt. 運用；施加
英語釋義：exert yourself to make a big physical or mental effort
它指的是：耗費肉體或精神上的努力。
You have to exert more efforts if you want to catch up with your classmates.

9、extend v. 延伸；延長；伸展；擴展；提供；使竭盡全力
英語釋義：extend somebody/something/yourself to make somebody/something use all their effort, abilities, supplies, etc.
extend的本義是“伸展，擴展，延長”，就跟明星喜歡跨界挑戰自己一樣，這也是很努力的意思了。
Tom didn't really have to extend himself in the examination.
