釋義：used to say that one thing is not true but a different thing is true 不是……而是……
not…but和not…but rather都是“不是……而是……”的意思。但是but rather比but更強烈地表示與前分句的對比意味，rather 起加強語氣作用。
例句：It's not always the truth that hurts, but rather the incorrect way you say it.
其實，事實並不總是傷人的，而是你用錯誤的方式講述了這個事實。
but rather也可以單獨拿出來用於肯定句，強調轉折的語氣。
