Chinese experts have completed restoration of a famous 800-year-old Buddha statue after 7 years of work.

歷時7年之久，我國專家完成了一座歷經八百年風雨的著名佛像的修繕工作。

Visitors now could see a new appearance of the "Qianshou Guanyin", a statue with 1,000 hands, in Dazu district, Chongqing municipality.

遊客現在可以看到重慶大足"千手觀音"的"全新"面容。

The restoration program began in 2008 and cost about RMB60m.

修繕工程於2008年開始，耗資6000萬元。

Workers restored 830 hands and 227 instruments, using more than 1m gold foils, consolidating the dated pieces of the statue and thoroughly cleaning it.

工作人員進行了風化石質加固、徹底清洗工作，共完成千手觀音造像830隻手和227件法器的修復，使用金箔超過100萬張。

It is the largest restoration project on the statue, which underwent repairs at least 4 times in history.

千手觀音造像曾經歷至少4次修繕，而這次是最大的一次修復。

The statue, 7.7 meters high and 12.5 meters wide, was carved during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

大足石刻千手觀音造像高7.7米、寬12.5米，開鑿於南宋年間(1127-1279)。
