Monthly rent in Beijing has risen by about a quarter in 2018, according to a research report that has stoked criticism from many of the millions of tenants who live in China's capital.

A research report issued by property search engine Zhuge showed rental costs up 25.6 per cent year on year at the end of July, with some areas seeing a rise of nearly 40 per cent.
