A commuter was apparently so offended by two young women who squatted down with their phones while waiting on a Shanghai subway platform that he posted a photo of them on social media to complain.

"Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't understand why girls today are so uneducated? How can they just squat casually while waiting for the subway? … Where did they learn this?" read the Sina Weibo post last Friday.

The Weibo user, who was unnamed, reportedly has a history of posting outraged comments over what he sees as inappropriate behavior on Shanghai's subways.

The image, which has since been deleted, showed the pair huddled around their screens, West China City Daily reported on last Saturday, garnering more than 15.7 million views and more than 36,000 comments.

While the peeved post received some support, with one user writing "that's ugly, especially for young girls," the vast majority of commenters came to their defense.

Even Weibo celebs, such as "zuoyeben," who boasts more than 8.8 million followers, weighed in over the "controversy."

"Squatting in public is not illegal and does not affect anyone. In fact, whoever posted this photo deserves to be called 'uneducated' because he did so without the women's permission."
