世界身材最小的母親將生下第三個孩子

World’s Shortest Mother Expecting Third Child

據英國《每日郵報》11月10日報道，斯泰西?赫拉爾德今年35歲，她的身高卻只有0.7米左右，醫生曾告訴她懷孕可能會要了她的命。但這位堪稱世界上身材最小的媽媽，已經生下兩個孩子，他的第三個孩子也即將誕生。

Stacey Herald suffers from the debilitating medical condition osteogenesis imperfecta. Basically, it means that she has brittle bones, weakened lungs, and failed to grow and thrive as a normal-sized person might. In Stacey’s case, she stopped growing at about 2 feet, 4 inches tall. Giving birth should be impossible for someone her size. Just don’t tell that to Stacey, who is now pregnant with her third child.

She defied doctor’s orders not to get pregnant the first time by saying, “They all told me that I would die. They begged me not to have a baby. Even my mother said,’ You know you won’t survive right?’ “I told her: ‘It’s a miracle that I am here, that I have life, why couldn’t this be a miracle too?”
但是醫生警告稱，如果懷孕，赫拉爾德的小身體可能承受不住，過大的嬰兒可能壓碎她的器官，並害死她。但赫拉爾德說：“如果不能生孩子，我會傷心而死。在我的所有生活中，父母總是告訴我什麼也不能做。現在，這些醫生又告訴我不能有一個完整的家庭，這太令人傷心了。”但是奇蹟終於出現了，2006年他們的第一個女兒卡特里經過剖腹產順利降生了。但令他們絕望的是，卡特里遺傳了赫拉爾德的疾病，不會擁有正常身高。一年後，赫拉爾德再次懷孕，第二個女兒經過千辛萬苦終於來到人世，而且身材完全正常。

Since then, she’s had another daughter, and is now pregnant with her first son. It goes without saying that she’ll be bedridden soon, if she’s not already, but given that her second daughter was half her mother’s size when born, it’s a miracle that she’s even made it this far. Let’s just hope this is the last baby for Stacey and her husband Will. There’s no sense incontinuing to push your luck with multiple pregnancies.
