名詞解釋：剩女，教育部2007年8月公佈的171個漢語新詞之一。是指已經過了社會一般所認爲的適婚年齡，但是仍然未結婚的女性，廣義上是指27歲或以上的單身女性，很多擁有高學歷、高收入和出衆的長相，但也有很多自身條件較差。多數擇偶要求比較高，導致在婚姻上得不到理想歸宿，而變成“剩女”的大齡女青年。你知道怎麼用英語表達嗎?

中國將27歲還沒嫁出去的女孩稱作“剩女”，這一稱號讓這一女性羣體很是沮喪。在城市裏，越來越多受過良好教育的職業女性已經年過27，即將步入而立之年，卻還未能找到另一半。

統計數據顯示，年齡在25歲到29歲之間的中國女性有五分之一是未婚。

中國婦聯近日已經棄用“剩女”一詞，改用“大齡未婚女青年”，但是“剩女”一詞在其他地方還是被廣泛使用。
