petrichor，這個單詞的英文釋義那麼美，可是如果查有道詞典的話會顯示是“潮土油”這麼low又費解的詞義。爲什麼?詞根petr-表石頭，太多西方人的教名Peter其實就是“磐石”之意，再如petroleum石油。而-ichor則是希臘神話中神仙體內流淌的“神液”，即神的血液。希臘神話中青銅巨人Talos塔羅斯全身青銅鑄就，所向無敵。只有一根血管，從頸部通下，其內流淌着ichor直到膝蓋處以銅鈕遮掩。阿爾戈號船員取得金羊毛後要在Talos所在的島嶼登陸，Talos阻止時被Medea拔掉了銅紐，金黃色的ichor流淌了滿地而死。
