雅思口語話題素材：一首歌

Describe a song that reminds you of a particular time.

I’m sure a lot of people have a song that reminds them of their first kiss or a childhood memory, but one song that always brings a smile to my face is Gangnam Style by the South Korean artist, Psy.

The song is all in Korean, so I’m not particularly sure what it is about. I know that Gangnam is a rich area of the Seoul, the capital of South Korea, a bit like Beverly Hills in California. The video for the song is very random, with tongue-in-cheek jokes about money and being wealthy.

When I hear the song, it takes me back to my time at university. I can remember when it first started to appear on the internet, on social media and video sites like YouKu. I would watch it with my roommates in my dorm and in class on my phone. Then it really took off and it seemed to be everywhere, in shops, on TV and especially in bars and nightclubs.

Back then I used to listen to Gangnam Style all the time, you couldn’t really escape it, but nowadays it isn’t played so often. It’s been overtaken by new catchy songs like Xiao Pingguo, which means ‘little apple’.

To be honest, these days I find the song a bit annoying. I think it was overplayed and people got tired of it. But I guess it still holds a special place in my mind as it reminds me of being young and at university, of staying up late with my friends and watching videos on the internet until the early hours.

since then, in this huge and strange city, we found each other, you know, like the “soul mate” kind.

living in a strange place, like this ridiculous city, I was lonely and there was hole deep deep inside. But Sherry is like Angel, brings light into my shadow of darkness of my life. Her friendship help me kill loneliness and homesick.

一首我喜歡的歌曲是來自於周華健的朋友。周華健是90年代的一位非常出名的中國歌手，到現在也很受歡迎。這首歌是關於友誼的。就像歌曲裏唱到的那樣，朋友一生一起走。

A favorite song of mine is Pengyou, which is from Zhou Huajian, who was a very well-known Chinese singer in the 90s and still is. This song is all about friendship. Just like the lyrics said, friends, we walk together always.

我不太記得我第一次聽這首歌是什麼時候了。但絕對是很久遠的事情了，大概是在我上小學的時候?我第一次聽到這首歌的時候，我就被這首歌給迷住了，尤其是它的旋律和還有歌詞。那個時候我從未聽過如此純淨有積極向上的歌曲。那個時候還有一首叫同一首歌，也是很出名，但是在我心中還是這首歌曲最完美。

I can’t remember when I listened to this song for the first time. It was definitely very long time ago, maybe when I was in the primary school? The moment I heard the song, I was kind of fascinated by the rhythm and the lyrics. Never had I heard such a pure and positive song at that time. Another song that also made me feel good was called TONGYISHOUGE, but you know it’s not as perfect as this one in my mind.

我在備戰高考的時候壓力特別大，這壓力來自於我的家人還有我身邊的同齡人。那個時候正是這首歌讓我堅持了下來。所以，我認爲我喜歡這首歌曲的原因就是因爲教會了我如何變得更加積極向上，我並不孤獨，我什麼還有很多朋友支持着我。

During the preparation for the college entrance exam, I got extremely stressful because of the burden I had from both of my family and my peers. It was this song that really helped me stick to it. So, I think the reason why I love this song so much is that this song teaches how to become positive and let me know that I was not alone, I’ve got my friends who would stand by my side always.

現在在中國我們有很多年輕有才華的歌手，比如TFBoys等等。但是我依然忘不了那個時候這首歌曲陪伴我的時光，它就像我的一個靈魂伴侶一樣。

Right now, we have so many young and talented pop song singers in China, like TFBoys. But, I still can’t forget those days when I listened to this song and regarded it as a soul companion of mine.

In my mind, there is a song I particularly enjoy and it means a lot to me, whose name is the girl next to me. It is a folk song(民謠) sung by Laolang, a famous folk singer in my country popular in young Chinese people in particular, young college students. The singer expresses his missing to the girl sitting at same table of him in his school time. I heard it on a music website for the first time several years ago when I was in my dormitory. I was impressed by the beautiful melody(旋律) and the touching lyrics(歌詞) and it is not surprising that the song is very prevalent(流行的) among the young college students like me on campus.
