cool one's heels 久等
【講解】
cool one’s heels讓某人空等，久等，此語產生於16世紀，原指馬蹄在跑了很長一段路後,開始變熱，主人必須停下來歇息，讓馬蹄涼下來後再趕路。後來此語轉而指人, 即人在走了很長一段路後,發熱的腳跟因等別人都變涼了，而所等的人仍遲遲不到。因此cool one’s heel表示“苦苦等候，空等”。

A:Hurry up, or you'll be late again.
A：快點，不然你又要遲到了。
B:I'm coming.
B：來了。
A:You can't keep them cooling their heels each time.
