看《老友記》學地道美語：扯平

1. 包含
羅斯住酒店會把洗髮水、肥皂連針線包都帶走：
Why not? It’s built into the price of the room.
爲什麼不呢？這些東西全都包含在房費裏。
build sth in/into sth的英語釋義是“to include something as part of a plan, system, or agreement”，解釋爲（使）包括；使成爲（計劃、系統或協議的）組成部分。
When drawing up a contract it is vital to build in safety measures.
草擬合同時，將安全措施包括在內很重要。
看一下這個被動用法， 很精彩哦：
Inequalities are often built into (= cannot be separated from) society.
社會中往往會存在不平等現象。
2. 扮醜
看菲比對自己的形容：
I may play the fool at times, but I’m a little more than a pretty blond girl with an ass that won’t quit.
或許有時候我會裝傻，但別隻把我當成個大屁股的金髮美女。
這裏的fool可以指（舊時宮廷裏的）弄臣，小丑，那act/play the fool就常指“爲逗人笑而裝瘋賣傻，幹蠢事，扮丑角”。
Stop acting the fool, I'm trying to talk to you.
別再裝瘋賣傻了，我有話要跟你說。
3. 沒想到會這樣
羅斯和錢德勒費盡心思拍了一組假的婚禮照片，結果原來的底片在莫妮卡的包裏，羅斯說：
Didn’t see that coming.
我沒想到會這樣。
see sth. coming字面上的意思是看到某東西的來臨，也就是指“預料到、遇見某事會發生”的意思。Didn’t see that coming.可以理解爲totally unexpected。
4. 扯平了
錢德勒弄丟了底片還親了別人的新娘，莫妮卡自己先把新婚禮物都拆了，錢德勒說：
Call it even?
扯平？
美式英語裏是call it even，英式口語裏是call it quits，表示“同意債務已償清，同意已互不相欠”：
I paid for last week's shopping and you paid for this week's, so let's call it quits.
上週買東西我付的錢，這周是你付的，這樣我們就兩不相欠了。
