Pluto Chases Kid
Visitors to Disneyland in southern California see lots of life-sized cartoon characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Pluto the Dog. Most parents take their small kids right up to these characters. If the child doesn't start bawling because he or she is afraid of the cartoon character, the parents will take snapshots or videos of their kid with Snow White, Grumpy, Goofy, or others. Often the camera will be rolling even when the child looks afraid or is crying.
Last week, Eva Gunderson took her 7-year-old son Billy Bob to Disneyland. Pluto was the first character they met once they got inside. Eva asked Billy Bob if he wanted a picture with Pluto. Billy Bob said no. He said Pluto’s tail was too skinny and his nose was too big. Eva told him to go ahead, please, just so she could show daddy. Billy Bob reluctantly agreed.
He went over to Pluto and sat on his lap. Eva said, “Say cheese!” and both Billy Bob and Pluto said the magic word. Then, as Billy Bob got off Pluto’s lap, he grabbed Pluto’s round black plastic nose and ripped it off Pluto’s costume. Pluto yelled “Ouch!” (even though it didn’t hurt). Billy Bob started running, and Pluto started chasing him. Just as Pluto got close enough to grab him, Billy Bob kicked Pluto between his legs. Pluto fell to the ground, groaning. This time he really was in pain.
Eva got it all on video cam. “That was great, honey!” she told her son as they walked off to find more characters. “Wait till daddy sees this. He’ll be so proud of you!”
朋友與熊
兩個人正在沿着山道走，他們是非常要好的朋友。途中，突然遇到一頭大熊，他們嚇壞了，四處尋找藏身之處。其中的一個人搶先爬上了樹，躲了起來，而另一個人遇到了一隻熊，他會被熊吃掉嗎?
Once upon a time, two young men were walking along the mountain trail. They were very close friends.
But, all of a sudden, a bear showed up. Shocked, the young men were looking for a place to hide. One fellow hid himself by climbing up a tree, but the other one was unable to run away.
When the bear pounced upon him, the fellow who could not run away threw himself flat down upon the ground and pretended to be dead. The young man on the ground held his breath and stayed still. The bear, coming up to him, put his muzzle close to the man, and sniffed. "He's dead. I don't eat dead meat."
The bear left the young man along and went away. After the bear was gone, the friend in the tree came down. Wiping away his cold sweat, the friend asked, "What did the bear say to you?"
"Oh, the bear told me", said the other, "Not to hang out with a friend who runs away when a risky situation occurs."
After hearing him, the young man who climbed up the tree alone felt sorry for his behavior. Friends mean being there for each other even when danger comes.
蛙和奶牛
The Frog and the Cow
Baby frogs went on a picnic in the woods. Getting out of the pond for the first time, they sang merrily.
Then, they found a cow grazing in a field. "Oh, my! What is that?" "It is huge!" All of them wondered what kind of animal it was. "Let's ask Daddy."
They returned home in a hurry and shouted, "Daddy, we saw a strange animal." "What kind of animal was it?"
"It had large horns on its head and its body was way bigger than you. Even if we all add up our power, we can not defeat that animal."
The father was curious what the animal looked like. "Really? Was it bigger than my stomach?" "Yes. Much bigger than that!"
The father frog blew up his stomach largely, "Well, now, I'm as big as the animal, right?" "No, you are as big as the animal's heel." The father puffed himself up deeply and blew up his stomach enormously.
"How about now? Am I as big as the animal, huh?" "No, not even." Thinking he could not be outdone, the father frog puffed up his stomach even more.
The father frog's stomach was blown up as big as he could get. Right at that very moment, the father frog's stomach burst with a bang.

父親對他的描述感到很好奇。“真的嗎?它比我的肚子還大嗎?”“是啊，可比你的肚子大得多!”
父親使勁鼓起了自己的肚子，“現在呢，現在我和那個動物一樣大了，對吧?”“不，你現在也就只有那隻動物的腳跟那麼大。”父親氣急了，又使勁鼓了股他的肚子。
“現在呢?現在我和那動物一樣大了吧?”“不，還是小。”父親認爲自己不能認輸，於是它又深呼吸了一下，肚子又大了一圈。
就這樣他不停地吹氣，肚子已經達到極限了。就在這一瞬間，青蛙爸爸的肚子砰的一聲爆炸了。
