Legend says that there were once ten suns in the sky, which made plants wither, water in rivers and lakes run dry. It’s too hot to live on the sun.
相傳，遠古時候有一年，天上出現了十個太陽，直烤得大地冒煙，海水枯乾，老百姓眼看無法再生活去。
Houyi, a young man who was good at archery was sympathetic with people’s torture so he decided to save them. He took out his bow, ascended up to the peak of the Kunlun Mountain and shot down nine of the ten suns one by one, and he might have shot the last one if it was not called off by others. Thus the severe drought was gone.
這件事驚動了一個名叫后羿的英雄，他登上崑崙山頂，運足神力，拉開神弓，一氣射下九個多餘的太陽。
Houyi thus was respected and honored by people as a hero. Young men who were fond of archery flocked to him to learn shooting.
后羿立下蓋世神功，受到百姓，的尊敬和愛戴，不少志士慕名前來投師學藝。
Houyi later married a pretty lady called Chang’er and lived a happy life with her.
不久，后羿娶了個美麗善良的 妻子，名叫嫦娥。后羿除傳藝狩獵外，終日和妻子在一起，人們都羨慕這對郎才女貌的恩愛夫妻。
One day on his way to a friend’ home in the Kunlun Mountain, Houyi came across the Heavenly Empress. Houyi was enamored of the happy life with his wife and wanted to be with her forever so he asked the Heavely Empress to give him some elixir. The elixir was strictly controlled off normal people. The Heavely Empress, however, moved by Houyi’s contribution and affection to love and gave him one. The drug was said very powerful and people who took it can fly to the heaven and became a immortal immediately. However, the content was only enough for one person and Houyi was reluctant to leave his beloved wife alone on the earth so he gave the elixir to Chang’er to preserve and wanted to seek another one for his wife. Chang’er carefully stored it in a wooden box while her action was peeked by the evil Fengmeng-one of his husband’s adherents.
一天，后羿到崑崙山訪友求道，巧遇由此經過的王母娘娘，后羿因與嫦娥恩愛，想與她永遠在一起，便向王母求一包不死藥。但因此要凡間控制得嚴，王母被后羿的貢獻和精神打動，就給了他醫保，但是神藥只夠一個人吃據說，服下此藥，能即刻昇天成仙。然而藥只夠一個人吃，后羿捨不得撇下妻子，只好暫時把不死藥交給嫦娥珍藏。嫦娥將藥藏進梳妝檯的百寶匣裏，不料被蓬蒙看到了。
Three days afterward, Houyi lead his disciples to go out for hunting but Fengmeng who wanted to steal the elixir while Houyi was way, stayed at home deliberately.
三天後，后羿率衆徒外出狩獵，心懷鬼胎的蓬蒙假裝生病，留了下來。
No sooner as Houyi left his house, Fengmeng knocked into the courtyard where Chang’er was working. He wielded his glitter sword and threatened Chang’er to give him the elixir.
待后羿率衆人走後不久，蓬蒙手持寶劍闖入內宅後院，威逼嫦娥交出不死藥。
Chang’e had no better idea than swallowed the elixir herself.
嫦娥知道自己不是蓬蒙的對手，只得拿出不死藥一口吞了下去。
As soon as she took it, chang’er flew from her house toward the heave and finally landed on the moon.
嫦娥吞下藥，身子立時飄離地面、衝出窗口，向天上飛去。
Houyi was told what was happening in the evening when he returned home from bumper hunting. He was astonished, anguished and then very anger so he decided to kill the evil man. But Fengmeng had fled away. Chang’er was transferred to the moon and has lived there since ever.
傍晚，后羿回到家，侍女們哭訴了白天發生的事。后羿既驚又怒，抽劍去殺惡徒，蓬蒙早逃走了。嫦娥從此就在月亮上住了下來。
Chang'e decides to live on the moon because it is nearest to the earth. There she lives a simple and contented life. Even though she is in Heaven, her heart remains in the world of mortals. Never does she forget the deep love she has for Hou Yi.
嫦娥決定在月亮上住下來，因爲月亮離地球最近。她在月宮裏過着簡單的生活。儘管她上了天宮，她的心還是在凡間。嫦娥從未忘記與后羿之間的愛。
百姓們聞知嫦娥奔月成仙的消息後，紛紛在月下襬設香案，向善良的嫦娥祈求吉祥平安。從此，中秋節拜月的風俗在民間傳開了。

they came to a river. zong asked the ghost to cross it first. he listened and found that the ghost made no noise at all. when he waded the river, he splashed and made a lot of noise. "why did you make so much noise?" the ghost asked. "i have not yet learned to cross a river quietly, since i am a new ghost," zong answered, adding, "please bear with me about that."
they were approaching wanshi when zong put the ghost on his shoulder and held it fast with his hands. the ghost demanded in a loud voice to be let off, but zong turned a deaf ear to it. he walked straight to the centre of the town. when he put the ghost down on the ground, it had turned itself into a goat. he sold it and spat at it for fear that it might change people said at the time, "song dingbo earned fifteen hundred coins by selling a ghost."

The littel princess loved watching the sunrise, admiring the spectacle of nature. She once asked her father where the sun rises. Her father said it was in the Eastern Sea and promised to take her there to see sunrise on a boat, but he had been too busy to do that.
女娃很喜歡看日出，喜歡大自然。她很想讓父親帶她出去，到東海——太陽升起的地方去看一看。可是因爲父親忙於公事：太陽升起時來到東海,直到太陽落下;日日如此，總是不能帶她去
One day, the little princess got a boat behind her father's back, sailing to the Eastern Sea. When she was away from the shore, unfortunately, a strong wind rose and overthrew her boat. She was buried by the surging waves, being drowned quickly.

From then on, Jing Wei flew to and fro between the mountain and the Eastern sea, carrying a twig or a pebble and dropping it into the sea. Day after day, it never stopped.
從此以後，她在波濤洶涌的海面上回翔闃，悲鳴着，把石子樹枝投下去，想把大海填平。
Puzzled by its behaviors, the sea said to Jing Wei with irony, "Stop doing that, poor little bird, it is totally meaningless! You'll never fill me up."
大海奔騰着，咆哮着，嘲笑她：“小鳥兒，算了吧，你這工作就幹一百萬年，也休想把我填平!”
To it, Jing Wei replied firmly, "I'll fill you up no doubt! I will, even if it'll take me thousands of years! I'll fight on until doomsday!"

The brave little bird kept carrying twigs and pebbles from the mountain to the Eastern Sea without taking a rest.
