馬雲將推動美國小企業增加對華出口

Jack Ma is pushing for American small businesses to export more to China, as he looks to win over Donald Trump and draw more customers to Alibaba, the dominant ecommerce platform.

馬雲(Jack Ma)將推動美國小企業增加對華出口,他試圖贏得美國總統唐納德?特朗普(Donald Trump)的好感,同時將更多客戶吸引至目前占主導地位的電子商務平臺阿里巴巴(Alibaba)。

The head of China’s largest private company on Tuesday lavished praise on the “wonderful” American rust belt, laying out plans to bring 1m small US businesses to Alibaba’s platform in the next five years, as part of an idea hatched with Mr Trump in January.

週二,這位中國最大民營企業的掌門人對“神奇的”美國鏽帶大加讚美,提出了在今後五年將100萬美國小企業吸引至阿里巴巴平臺的計劃,這是他在今年1月與特朗普擬定的設想的一部分。

Mr Ma has previously pledged to create 1m US jobs, a claim that has been dismissed by some analysts but applauded by Mr Trump.

“[Trump] said the American Midwest is the centre, where there are so many small and medium-sized companies,” said Mr Ma on a conference call with reporters. “China has 300m middle class [shoppers]. We need good stuff from outside China?.?.?.?Trump said Midwest America is definitely the place.”

Mr Ma’s comments come ahead of a June conference Alibaba will host in Detroit, the “first key driver” of a campaign to encourage US farmers and businesses to export to China. Mr Trump was “very excited and supportive” of the plan, said Mr Ma, who supports his bid to promote “made in America” products.

One of China’s richest men, Mr Ma was an early visitor to Trump Tower following the presidential election last year, after which Mr Trump told reporters the two are “going to do some great things”.

Alibaba is looking to lure more US mom-and-pop merchants to its ecommerce platforms to sell American goods to a growing Chinese middle class. Mr Ma’s plan to bring 1m US businesses to Alibaba’s platform follows a goal set to secure 2bn customers in the next decade.

The company’s competitors, Amazon and Walmart, have likewise made promises to boost their American workforce, with Amazon setting a target of 100,000 new full-time jobs within 18 months, and Walmart aiming for 34,000 by the end of the year. However, Amazon’s plans do not represent an acceleration in hiring — the company has already been expanding its workforce, adding 80,000 employees in the 12 months to October 2016.

阿里巴巴的競爭對手亞馬遜(Amazon)和沃爾瑪(Walmart),也承諾要增加它們美國員工的人數。亞馬遜制定了在18個月內新增10萬個全職崗位的目標,沃爾瑪則打算在年底前新增3.4萬個崗位。不過,亞馬遜的計劃並不代表招聘提速——該公司之前就一直在擴大員工隊伍,在截至2016年10月的一年裏新招了8萬人。

In recent months a number of executives have tried to woo the US president, who has publicly pressured companies ranging from Ford to Boeing to invest in US manufacturing and job creation.

Mr Trump hit out at China throughout his protectionist presidential campaign but has so far declined to label China a currency manipulator. Mr Ma’s charm offensive has helped him win favour with the president, despite a potentially “strained US-China relationship” that could concern Alibaba investors, analysts at Evercore wrote.
