英國國家檔案館發生火災 18日起恢復開放

The National Archives can confirm that the fire which affected the two disused water towers external to the main building is now out. The London Fire Brigade were called out at approximately 12:30 GMT and quickly controlled and extinguished the fire. No-one was hurt or injured and there is no damage to the main building or any documents. Clem Brohier, Acting Chief Executive and Keeper, said:

藏有大量英國官方歷史文獻的英國國家檔案館附近15日發生火災，該檔案館隨後宣佈暫時停止對公衆開放，以進一步處理善後工作。英國國家檔案館確認，火災並未造成人員傷亡，也沒有殃及館內所藏曆史文件，但宣佈從15日下午開始暫停對外開放，18日起恢復向公衆開放。

'The most important thing is that no one was hurt and no documents were damaged in this incident. I have seen for myself today how quickly the London Fire Brigade got here and how staff from The National Archives swiftly put our incident plan into action and the public responded calmly and helpfully.' The National Archives is now closed for the weekend and will reopen to the public on Tuesday 18 February, as usual.
