故宮將在圓明園附近建新館 一期工程12.5萬平米
The Palace Museum will build a new museum in the north of Beijing so that more cultural relics can be displayed to the public, said curator Shan Jixiang.
Currently, the Palace Museum puts on 70 to 80 exhibitions each year, but the items displayed account for merely 0.5% of the collection, far less than the general levels of 10-20% for major museums in the world, Shan said at the International Smart Tourism Conference 2016, which kicked off in Hangzhou.
單霽翔在於杭州舉辦的2016國際旅遊互聯網大會上表示，故宮將在北京北部新建一個博物院，讓更多文物與公衆見面。目前，故宮每年舉辦七八十個展覽，但展出的文物僅佔藏品的0.5%，遠不及世界各大博物館10-20%的總體展出水平。Shan said the new museum will be 25 km from the current one and the first phase of the project will occupy an area of 125,000 sq m.
單霽翔稱，故宮新博物院距離故宮25公里，一期工程的佔地面積將達12.5萬平方米。
It will also be close to places of interest, including the Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace), to the south and the Great Wall and Ming Tombs to the north.
該新館也會毗鄰諸多名勝古蹟，南面圓明園，北面長城及十三陵。The new museum will be environmentally friendly and meet the requirements of conservation and display of cultural relics as well as satisfy the needs of visitors, Shan said.
單霽翔表示，該新館將會是有利於環境保護的，會滿足文物保護和展示的要求，也會滿足遊客的需求。In a bid to allow visitors to have a better understanding of the relics, a digital Palace Museum has been built.
爲了讓遊客更好地瞭解文物，故宮數字博物館也在建設當中。In addition, the museum also plans to further expand the area open to the public, expanding from the current level of 76 percent of its total area to 80 percent by 2020 and 85 percent by 2025.
此外，故宮博物院也在計劃進一步擴大面向公衆開放的範圍，目前開放的區域達到了76%，計劃2020年將達到80%，2025年開放到85%。
