四、作定語(後置)

五、作狀語

The poor girl has been collecting seashells to make a living.

目的狀語

時間狀語，放在句首有逗號隔開

六、作賓補

We saw him do his homework.

不帶to的不定式，表示全過程

We saw him doing his homework.

現在分詞，表示正在進行的動作

Tom’s mother helped him (to) do his homework.

help要求帶to不定式或禿頭不定式

We could see Tom showing them the way to his house.

現在分詞，表示正在進行的動作

They made him do special exercises to keep healthy.

make等使役動詞要求不帶to的不定式作賓補，to keep healthy實際上是個系表短語作目的狀語
