英語面試中脫穎而出

見面後要親切問候

求職者帶給面試官的第一印象一定要落落大方,見面後一定要親切問候。通常面試官的桌上會有名牌,如果面試官姓李,求職者可以從“Good morning, Mr. Lee”開始,拉近兩人的距離。當面試官問求職者:“How are you?” 求職者可以回答:”Couldn’t be better!”顯示出個人“愉悅的人格屬性”。 面試官除了關心求職者的學歷及經驗(這些可以從簡歷表來觀察)之外,面試官還會考覈求職者的“個性”及“態度”。這時,建議求職者以“2S1H”來表達自己的個性。“2S 1H”中,S是“Serious”,H是“Humorous”的意思。求職者可以說自己的個性是:Diligent, logical and happy. Diligent1,和logical,是屬於嚴肅的描述;happy是屬於幽默感的描述。但是,在表情上要搭配得宜,例如,說自己是個happy的人的時候,表情也應該是微笑的。如何掌握準確的表情,有賴於對自己性格的瞭解。

自我介紹重點突出

企業一般在招聘時有些什麼要求呢?求職者工作的長度、所負責的職務內容描述、能運用的技能(例如英語及電腦或某種專業)等等,這些都是面試官最關心的內容。面試的時間有限,求職者必須先掌握企業的要求,做好符合條件內容的陳述。

許多求職者在自傳中,花了很多版面描述家庭狀況;或是當面試官要求做自我介紹時,求職者沒有掌握重點,拉拉雜雜說了一堆。這時,即使求職者英文程度不錯,冗長無意義的贅述,也會讓面試官不耐煩。在有限的面試時間裏,求職者要掌握訴求的重點,並以邏輯的方式,一一道出企業所需要知道的信息。

對應陳述準備充分

在英語面試時,面試官經常會要求職者做“英語自我介紹”。一般在陳述的第一段,求職者要呈現出與職務目標相關的學識和技能;第二段,要表達過去的經歷和個人專長;第三段,表達求職者的學習精神,和“懇請給予面試機會”的意願。在英語面試時,求職者很可能被問到某種並不擅長的技能,或缺乏某種經驗的項目時,這時,面對面試官的質疑,求職者也有方法可以安然度過。1. 承認面試官提出的問題。2. 舉出曾經歷過的具體的經驗及教訓。3. 提出具體改善的方法。4. 強調自己學習力極強,表示自己可以很快迎頭趕上。承認面試官提出的問題,可以“避免”求職者露出“反對面試官”的態度。求職者馬上“反對面試官”,是絕對沒有好處的。舉出曾經歷過的具體的經驗及教訓,以及提出具體改善的方法,則可以將過去的成績具體化。最後,強調自己學習力極強,表示自己可以很快迎頭趕上,則是化解面試官的疑慮。這樣一來,求職者可以馬上化弱點爲優點。

面試結束,有禮有節

當結束了面試,求職者要表達勝不驕、敗不餒的態度。求職者即使感到自己表現不是非常好,也可以用幽默感及好的態度爲自己加分。例如,離場時,求職者可以說:Thank you very much. I hope we can see each other very soon.求職者必須以正面的態度結束這個面試,千萬別露出沮喪擔心的表情。這樣做,至少可以讓面試官感受你正面積極的態度及不慌不忙的成熟個性。_______________________________________________________________

A: With my qualifications and experience, I feel I am hardworking, responsible and diligent in any project I undertake. Your organization could benefit from my analytical2 and interpersonal skills.(依我的資格和經驗,我覺得我對所從事的每一個項目都很努力、負責、勤勉。我的分析能力和與人相處的技巧,對貴單位必有價值。)

Q:Give me a summary of your current job description. (對你目前的工作,能否做個概括的說明。)

A:I have been working as a computer programmer for five years. To be specific, I do system analysis, trouble shooting and provide software support. (我幹了五年的電腦程序員。具體地說,我做系統分析,解決問題以及軟件供應方面的支持。)

如果不願正面回答,也可以說:

It would be premature13 for me to predict this. (現在對此問題的預測,尚嫌過早。)

甚至還可以打趣的說:

Hypothetically speaking, I might be able to do your current job as a director.(或 CEO 或 president)((說不定,我也能做你現在主任的工作呢!)

Q: What range of pay-scale are you interested in?(你喜歡那一種薪水層次標準?)

A: Money is important, but the responsibility that goes along with this job is what interests me the most. (薪水固然重要,但這工作伴隨而來的責任更吸引我。)

A: 假如你有家眷,可以說:

To be frank and open with you, I like this job, but I have a family to support. (坦白地說,我喜歡這份工作,不過我必須要負擔我的家庭。)

Other Tips (其它建議)

Know something about the organization you are applying to. (瞭解一些你申請工作單位的情況)

Dress properly. Don't shake hand with the interviewer until he/she extends his/her hand. (穿着要得體,人家伸手時才握手。)

Don't sit down until invited to do so by the interviewer. (人家未請,先別坐下。)

Make eye-contact with the interviewer during the interview. (面試時,眼睛要看着對方。)

Listen actively14 and stay calm. (注意聽,保持冷靜。)

If invited to a meal, be especially careful about your table manners. (被邀吃飯時,要特別注意餐桌禮節。)

Don't talk with your mouth full. (嘴裏有食物,不可開口說話)

Don't make much noise while you eat. (吃東西不要出聲音)

Don't blow your nose or use the toothpick at table. (不要擰鼻涕或用牙籤剔牙)

Don't appear to be pushy15 or overly anxious to get a job.(不必過分表現急着要工作)

Be honest but not too modest.(要誠實,但不必太謙虛)

Don't put yourself down or cut yourself up. (不可妄自菲薄或自貶)

Try to avoid discussing politics or religion with your interviewer. (避免與面試人談政治或宗教)
