A: I shouldn’t have quarreled with my professor on such a great occasion. I was terrible.

B: Don’t be so hard on yourself.

be hard on sb.

要某人不要對自己太苛刻嚴厲就可以說“Don’t be hard on yourself.” 你想幫某人說情時,也可以將這句話套用成“Don’t be so hard on sb.”,意思是“別對他人太苛刻”。

e.g. Don't be too hard on him; he didn't mean to do it.

e.g. Wang Bin's parents are hard on him, demanding that he should only do the reading instead of surfing the Internet even in summer holidays.

I would rather be laughed at than quarrel with him.

It's very sad when husbands and wives quarrel with each other.

I have no quarrel with what you say.

Ps:on a +adj. +occasion

I remember you mentioned the same thing on a previous occasion.
