【講解】

hair本義爲“頭髮”，因爲頭髮很細，所以它可以引申爲“些微，一點兒”，而breadth指“寬 度，廣度”。所以短語a hair’s breadth指“一 發之差，極微小的距離”。類似的短語有:by a hair’s breadth (間不容髮，險些兒），to a hair’s breadth(精確地，絲毫不差）。
