統計局數據顯示 4月份CPI環比有所下降

China's consumer price index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, rose 1.8% in April year-on-year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed last Thursday.

國家統計局上週四發佈的數據顯示，衡量通貨膨脹的主要指標--全國居民消費價格指數（CPI），4月同比上漲1.8%。

The growth of consumer inflation in April was slower than expected, down by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.

4月份CPI的漲幅要低於預期，環比下降0.3個百分點。

The slower growth of inflation was mainly led by the steady decline of food prices, according to the NBS.

統計局表示，CPI增速放緩的主要原因是食品價格的穩步回落。

Food prices slipped 1.9 percent month-on-month and climbed only 0.7 percent year-on-year.

食品價格環比下降1.9%，同比僅上漲0.7%。

The price of pork, China's staple meat, slumped 16.1 percent yea-on-year, dragging down CPI growth by 0.43 percentage points. It fell 6.6 percent month-on-month.

中國的主要肉類豬肉的價格同比下跌了16.1%，影響CPI增長約0.43個百分點。該指數環比下降了6.6%。

Non-food prices rose 2.1 percent from the same period of last year and 0.2 percent from March.

非食品價格較去年同期上漲2.1%，較3月上漲0.2%。

Lian Ping, chief economist at the Bank of Communications, said that the economy is unlikely to experience high inflation this year given that there has not been a substantial rebound in demand, and the growth of credit supply has slowed.

交通銀行首席經濟學家連平表示，鑑於總需求沒有明顯回升，貨幣供給增速放緩，今年經濟不太可能出現高通脹。
