動詞treat的幾條用法說明

　　1. 表示“治療”，通常只表示治療的過程，並不強調治療的結果(即不表明治好與否)。如：

Which doctor is treating her? 哪個醫生在給她治病?

He is being treated with a new drug. 他正在接受一種新藥的治療。

注：表示“治癒”的結果，要用動詞 cure(參見 cure)。

　　2. 用作動詞，表示“對待”、“看作”，注意以下搭配：

They treated us with kindness. 他們對我們很好。

They treat me with respect. 他們尊重我。

Don’t treat me as [like] a child. /Don’t treat me as ifI were a child. 別把我當小孩對待。

　　3. 表示“論述”、“探討”等，用作及物或不及物(後接介詞of)動詞。如：

The article treats (of) an important subject. 這本書論述一個重要問題。

注：用作不及物動詞後接介詞 of 的用法，主要見於較正式或較舊的文體。

　　4. 表示“請客(吃)”、“給人(享受)”，通常用作及物動詞;要表示用什麼請客或給人以什麼享受，通常用介詞 to。如：

He treated me to the theatre. 他請我看戲。

He treated each of the children to an ice-cream. 他請每個孩子吃冰淇淋。

注：有時可用於自己。如：

I decided to treat myself a taxi. 我決定坐一次計程車。

注：表示“請客”，還可用作名詞。如：

It’s my treat. 我請客(由我付帳)。
