3、牛奶包裝的大小
在描述牛奶大小時，除了big和small，我們加上表示容積的單位，就更加清楚嘍：
- Do you have anything smaller, like a small carton?
- 有更小點的嗎？一小盒的那種？
If you go to an American grocery store, you'll notice that there are a ton of different sizes of milk to choose from.
如果去美國的超市，你會發現牛奶種類多到挑花眼。
Milk is sold in gallons, 1/2 gallons, quarts, and cartons.
牛奶有加侖，1/2加侖，夸脫和盒。
Gallon
加侖
The largest amount of milk you can buy is a gallon jug.
能買到最大瓶的牛奶是一加侖的大桶。
The whole amount of a jug of milk is 128 ounces! This is about 4 litres. Buying a gallon of milk is best if you have a bunch of people drinking it.
一加侖的大桶有128盎司，大概有4升（8斤）。如果喝的人多的話一加侖是最划算的。
1/2 gallon
1/2加侖
That's right! You guessed it! A half gallon of milk has 64 ounces or 2 litres of milk in it.
沒錯，猜對了，1/2加侖的牛奶有64盎司，大概2升（4斤）。
This size is best for maybe one or two people.
大概一到兩個人喝最好。
Quart/Litre
夸脫/升
A quart of milk equals a quarter of a gallon. So, with this in mind, a quart of milk would be 1/4th the size of a gallon, so 32 ounces! This is also about the same size as a litre of milk or 2 斤。
一夸脫牛奶=1/4加侖。32盎司！跟1升或2斤牛奶差不多大。
Carton
盒
There are also cartons of milk. This basically means that the milk is in a paper box or cardboard.
售賣的也有盒裝的牛奶。基本上是說牛奶裝在一個硬紙盒。
Cartons of milk can come in a lot of different sizes, but usually it's for smaller amounts of milk.
盒裝的牛奶也有不一樣的尺寸，但通常都是比較少量的牛奶。
For example, cartons of milk can come in quarts (which 1 L), half of a quart (which is 500 mL), and 1/4th of a quart (which is 250 mL).
比如盒裝牛奶有1夸脫的（1升），半夸脫（500毫升）和1/4夸脫（250毫升）
The smallest carton size comes in 4 ounces, or about 1/10th of a litre. This is the best if you just want to drink milk with one meal.
最小的盒裝牛奶是4盎司的，大概是100毫升。如果你只是吃飯時想喝的話最合適了。
I heard even in England they are using the metric system with litres and kilograms. We are probably the last country who is using the imperial system with quarts and gallons.
我聽在英國都用升和公斤這種公制單位。美國可能是僅剩的使用加侖夸脫這種英制單位的人了。
