經常聽到人們用“available”這個詞開玩笑：I do like you, Tony, but you know I'm not available, I'm married, I've been married for 6 years. 在這句話中，“I'm not available”是什麼意思呢？它的意思是：我不可以和你交往（原因是因爲我已經結婚了）。

“available”是個形容詞，下面，我們講講更多的關於“available”的用法：
指物“可用的，有效的，可獲得的”，例如：
These tickets are available for one month only. 這些票的有效期只有一個月。
The book you ordered is not available. 你訂購的那本書沒有貨。
There's nothing available in the refrigerator.　冰箱裏什麼吃的都沒有。
Do you have any solutions available? 你有可行的方案嗎？
I'll send you all the periodicals available. 我將把我能得到的期刊給你寄去。
指人“能夠出席的, 有時間做某事的”，例如：
Are you available for a meeting tomorrow morning?　你明早能出席會議嗎？
The doctor is not available now. 醫生現在沒空。
I'm afraid I won't be available the whole week.　我恐怕整個星期都沒空。
Could you make it available to be present in my wedding ceremony? 你能抽空來參加我的婚禮嗎？
OK, I think I'm available during that time.　沒問題，我想到時候應該有空。
