首先介紹一個相當適用的詞：obviously明顯地，顯然地，在口語中我們會經常用到這個詞：

The first thing he said to me was something in Japanese, which I obviously didn't understand. 首先，他用日語和我說了些什麼，很顯然，我根本聽不懂。
Obviously, you didn't get it at all. 很明顯，你根本就沒明白我的意思。

下面，介紹一個很好的單詞：engage 首先，它表示訂婚是這樣來用的：somebody is engaged to somebody, somebody is engaged:

Susan is engaged to Tony. 蘇姍和託尼訂婚了。
Susan and Tony are engaged. 蘇姍和託尼訂婚了。

be engaged in（something）表示忙於，做着，參加某事：

I'm engaged in my own business. 我忙於自己的事業。
My time is fully engaged. 我的時間被完全佔用了。
The line is engaged. 電話正在佔線。

另外，engage還表示吸引（通常用被動語態）：

Nothing engages his attention for long. 沒有任何事物可長久吸引他的注意。
Her attention was engaged by the display of new sweaters in the shop window.　她的注意力被商店櫥窗內展覽的新毛衫吸引去了。
