Such foreign investors’ enthusiasm, though welcome, needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. 這些外國投資者的熱情，雖然是歡迎的，但我們也要採取保守態度謹慎處理。

When she talks about marrying a billionaire, you should take her words with a pinch of salt. 當她說要嫁給億萬富翁的時候，你就姑且聽着別當回事兒。

有些時候，即使有些謊言看似邏輯嚴謹，無懈可擊，其實我們還是能smell a rat的。

Smell a rat 感到有可疑之處

Every time he visits me, one of my ash trays disappears. I’m beginning to smell a rat. 每次他來看我，我就有一隻菸灰缸不見了。於是我開始起了疑心。

Didn’t you smell a rat when they agreed to sell you the goods at such a price? 當他們同意把那批貨以那樣的價格賣給你的時候就沒感到有些可疑之處？

欺騙不對，不過生活中我們可能會遇到需要說點善意的謊話的時候，爲了安慰別人，爲了讓對方開心些。這樣的小謊言我們稱爲 a white lie。

I feel guilty every time I tell even a little white lie, although I do it just to make somebody feel better. 儘管我是爲了讓某人感到好受一點而說了善意的謊言，可每當這個時候我都覺得有些內疚。

Though I believe in telling the truth, I think a while lie is sometimes justified. 雖然我認爲應該說真話，但有時說一個不懷惡意的謊言也是無可非議的。
