It was in 2008 when Taylor Swift won her very first American Music award (AMA), for Favorite Country Female Artist. During the ceremony, the then 18-year-old US singer-songwriter wore a long white dress, and performed White Horse, a song about how she came from a small town where a boy broke her heart.

She took home three awards, including Artist of the Year. That gave Swift a total of 23 AMA trophies, more than any other female artist in music history.
