Thailand’s ruling military junta has claimed Bangkok’s deadliest-ever bombing is unlikely to be the work of international terrorists, even though investigators previously said the man suspected of planting the device was foreign.

泰國軍政府聲稱，曼谷爆炸案不太可能是國際恐怖分子的手筆——儘管此前有多名調查人員聲稱涉嫌安置炸彈的男子是外國人。發生在曼谷的這起爆炸案，導致了史無前例的傷亡。

The government called on Thursday for international help in probing the attack at the Erawan shrine, which left 20 dead and which police say probably involved 10 or more people and was planned a month in advance.

The latest flurry of bold official statements comes despite a dearth of hard evidence since Monday’s bombing, with the important exception of security camera footage of the prime suspect and several possible accomplices.

In his second special television broadcast in as many days, Col Winthai Suvaree, a junta spokesman, played down the idea that Thailand had become a new front for a known foreign terrorist group.
