注意：目的狀語從句中值得注意的四點

1. 目的狀語從句表目的，其關聯詞有：
so, that, so that, in order that, in case, lest, for fear that等。
I gave you a map so you wouldn't get lost.我給你一張地圖,這樣你就不會迷路了。
They set off half an hour earlier that they might get there in time.他們早出發半小時,以便及時到達那裏。
I am saving money so that I can buy a house.我正在攢錢,以便買一所房子。
Would you add in these items,please,in order that we complete the list?爲完成整個目錄的編寫工作,請你把這些條目加進去好嗎？
Take warm clothes in case the weather is cold.穿上暖和的衣服,以防天冷。
I ran as fast as possible lest I should be too late.我儘量快跑,免得遲到。
We spoke in whispers for fear that we might wake the baby.我們輕聲說話,以免吵醒嬰兒。

2. 目的狀語從句中常用情態動詞may/might,shall/should,will/would和can。
Bring it closer so I may see it better.把它拿近點,我好看清楚。
I'll ring him up at once so he shouldn't wait for me.我馬上給他掛電話,讓他別等我了。
I will give you all the facts so that you can judge for yourself.我會給你所有的事實以便你可以自己判斷。

3. 目的狀語從句多置於主句之後。so that和in order that引導的從句如被強調則可置於句首。
We hid it carefully so that no one should see it.我們把它藏得很好,沒有人會看到的。
He did that in order that everyone should be satisfied.他那樣做是爲了讓大家都滿意。
So that the coming generation can learn the martial arts,he has recently devoted much time to writing books on the subject.爲了下一代能夠學會這些武術,他近來花了許多時間著書立說。
In order that the grass and flowers could bloom again,it was necessary that the rocks should be removed. 爲了這些花草能再開花,這些石頭必須搬走。

4. lest引導的從句中謂語動詞要用虛擬語氣(should+動詞原形)；in case引導的從句中謂語動詞可用虛擬語氣,也可用陳述語氣。
Be careful lest you (should) fall from the tree.小心,不要從樹上掉下來。
Be quiet in case you wake the teacher.輕點兒,別弄醒老師。
Keep the window closed in case it rains.把窗戶關好,以防下雨。
