Employees can make a business succeed or fail, so the people who choose them have a vital role to play.

Employees are a company's new ideas, its public face and its main asset. Hiring the right people is therefore a significant factor in a company's success.(0) G If the human resources department makes mistakes with hiring, keeping and dismissing staff, a business can disappear overnight. Many companies now realise that recruiting the best recruiters is the key to success.

這篇文章的標題有些misleading,“The best people for the job”,還以爲是招人的標準。其實這篇文章是關於Human resource的,所以還是要適當關注文章前的說明:the article below about the changing role of human resources departments.第八題,空格後面的“That's no longer the case”是很重要的提示。由於空格前面一直在強調commercial和business,所以在空缺的地方應該是和另一個方面相關的內容。選項C的administrative role正好滿足這個要求。前後文意思搭配在一起完全吻合。第九題,後面的for example的很關鍵,是對前面的補充說明。“For example,a chief executive will expect the HR department to advise on everything from the headcount to whether to proceed with an acquisition.”總裁希望人力資源經理對一切事情提出建議,從人數統計到是否進行收購。這種要求就需要人力資源經理具備很多才能。所以F的句子填在這裏最合適。第十題,答案稍微不那麼明顯,不過D句中的an influential role可以和第十題的空格後的a crucial part相對應,算是答案信號。要從整體上把握第三段,這裏認爲HR manager 的影響是全局的、長期的,所以D句的“see the whole operation”符合情況。第十一題,理解前後文的意思,前面說過去的operational managers不那麼認可HR manager的作用,後面指出HR managers掙得多,所以中間是轉折的意思。A句的But是個信號,“上漲的薪酬水平意味着這個職位逐漸增加的重要性得到了廣泛的認可。”意思和前後都吻合,所以是正確答案。第十二題,空格前說HR managers覺得自己的作用被低估了,所以leaving。空格後一個However,所以空格處應該還是和leaving有關的,爲什麼離職。E句的意思是“被視作僅僅對別人的離開和生病的日子劃勾的人是沒法幫助建立忠誠感的。”填入此處正好。

BEC閱讀做題方法

閱讀一共有六個部分。

第一部分是5個短文與提示的8個選項匹配,其實就跟以前高考閱讀的匹配題差不多,一共8小題,通常一短文可以匹配1-2個選項。這題難度不算高,只要找到匹配詞就可以了,關鍵就是上面提到的表示同一意思的兩組不同單詞。

第二部分是把8個選項的句子按給出的已經挖空7個的文章上對應填上,其中一個已經給出答案以供參考。這部分個人感覺是最難的,而且非常飄忽,感覺來了可能全對,但更多時候至少錯一半以上,慚愧。分析了自己做過的題目,發現插入的句子肯定是跟上下兩句有關係的,而且邏輯非常強。比如上面說一堆東西的,下面就不怎麼可能填上主語是it 的選項,可能是they或portfolio,如果附近有提到兩種相連的東西,比如兩種效果、情況、選擇等,那就留意選項中有沒有出現durable、former、latter這類型的單詞。所以做這部分的話,有時候是可以直接掠過沒有挖空的部分的。

第三部分跟平時我們做CET-4和CET-6的是一樣的,只是BEC在這裏有個特點,一題通常只對應一段,所以可以先看第一題目和第一段,完了再看第二題目和第二段,如此類推。

第四部分是完形填空10小題,各人有各人方法,沒什麼竅門。

第五部分的填詞10題,正常情況下是虛詞,也就是靠些詞組的搭配還有連接詞什麼的,完全靠平時積累。

第六部分12題,選出錯的單詞,考的同樣是語法,也是詞組搭配跟連詞,注意通常會有2-3個選項是correct的。其實第五和第六部分可以做一下歸納,看高頻詞是那些,比如連接詞、冠詞、介詞這些是比較會考的。

個人認爲最後三個部分相對簡單題量佔得也多,答題時推薦順序是654312。不過考試那時我時間是極爲緊張的,若非老師提前給我們做卷,極有可能不夠時間完成。
