dinner與diner的區別

dinner與diner雖然都是名詞，但它們的發音和意義均不相同。名詞diner（與finer押韻）既可以指人，也可以指地名。指人的時候一般指在餐館用餐的人（或者吃晚餐的人），指地名時是指路邊的咖啡廳或有時候形狀奇特例如老式軌道車，銀色拖車或超大咖啡壺）的非正式餐館。

注意，詞語dining（例如in dining room）在拼寫時中間也只有一個n。

名詞dinner（和thinner押韻）指的則是一餐飯（一般是一天中最重要的一餐），或者用餐的正式宴會。（在美國，正餐過去一般在中午，而現在則改在了傍晚。）
