mean business是表示“當真，玩真的”，沒有兒戲的成份在內，一心一意地去達成某件事，未必和“生意”business有關：
A: I still can't believe Mary got into college.

B: Well, she meant business this time.
呃，她這次是玩真的。
mean business也可以表示爲了某種目的而來：
A: Why are the police outside?
警察怎麼會在這兒?

1) be down on... 對……感到失望，看不起。
2) in action 在行動中，在動作中

【On the phone 在電話上】
與phone搭配的動詞包括answer, speak on ,talk on。要注意phone之前要有定冠詞the。“接聽電話”是answer the phone，絕不可誤用receive, speak/talk on the phone是“在電話中講話”。而“你的電話”在英文裏絕非your telephone，應說It's for you或You are wanted on the phone。
A: Janet, you are wanted on the phone.
珍妮特，你的電話。
B: I'm sorry. I Just can't answer the phone right now.

【turn into someone在……面前表現得……】
當你眼前的這個人，在個性或是應對反應上，突然表現得跟平常完全不一樣，讓你對這突然的轉變感到有些不習慣，這時你就可以用這個句型來表達你的想法。
A: Could I treat you to dinner tonight?
我今晚可以請你吃晚飯嗎?
B: Don't go turning into a gentleman on me. I won't know what to do.
