Describe a wedding

Task:

Describe a wedding you attended

You should say:

whose wedding it was

who was there

where it was

and explain how you felt at this wedding.

Sample answer:

One of my cousins got married and had a magnificent(華麗的) celebration. Nearly 100 hundred relatives and friends attended it and I was there all along the way.

There are many steps to follow during a typical Chinese wedding, like both families cover any manholes, drains or wells nearby the houses with red paper as a local tradition. But I always find most interesting the part of how the groom win his way to his lover.

The wedding ceremony was on the national day last nd 9 am, we, as the groom family, set a fleet of cars towards the bride house. When we arrive at the brides house, the groom, along with his parents, cousins, aunts and uncles, went to the brides door. The groom knocked the door several times, calling out for his wife, but the bride's mother won’t not open it until the groom calls, "Mama" and paid the bride's mother some money.

Even then, the bride remained locked in her room with the bride's maids. The maids demanded the groom proved his love before they would open the door. This included singing correctly some ordered romantic songs, and some were tricky. My cousin was not a pop song lover, so it was time to display my music skills. My try was passed as OK, thankfully. Eventually the bride came out and the groom lifted her up into the waiting car during everyone’s applause.

In the weddings I have attended, there have been a few Western elements, like white gowns and wedding vows, but overall, I would characterize the weddings as very much Chinese in both form and style. It is a mix of tradition, spectacle, prestige, showing off, and romance all in one.

1.A wedding is a ceremony where two people are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs(習慣)vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups(民族), religions, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of wedding vows(誓言) by the couple, presentation of a gift (offering, ring(s), symbolic(象徵性)item, flowers, money), and a public proclamation(宣告) of marriage by an authority figure. Special wedding garments(服裝)are often worn, and the ceremony is sometimes followed by a wedding reception. Music, poetry, prayers or readings from religious texts or literature are also commonly incorporated into the ceremony.

use of a wedding ring has long been part of religious weddings in Europe and America, but the origin of the tradition is unclear. One possibility is the Roman belief in the Vena Amoris, which was believed to be a blood vessel that ran from the fourth finger (ring finger) directly to the heart, thus when a couple wore rings on this finger their hearts were connected. Historian Vicki Howard points out that the belief in the "ancient" quality of the practice is most likely a modern invention. "Double ring" ceremonies are also a modern practice, a groom's wedding band not appearing in the United States until the early 20th century.

wedding ceremony is often followed by wedding reception or a wedding breakfast, in which the rituals may include speeches from the groom, best man(伴郎), father of the bride and possibly the bride, the newlyweds' first dance as a couple, and the cutting of an elegant(漂亮的) wedding cake.

Topic:Describe a memorable wedding that you attended

You should say :

When it was

Who was there

What you did th ere

and explain why you think it was successful

Sample answer:

Ok,well I've actually been to quite a few weddings, because I'm now at the age when a lot of my friends are starting to get married ,so it was kind of difficult choosing which one to describe, but I guess probably the easiest for me to talk about would be the most recent one I went to,which was that of a neighbor of mine.

Also, what I should probably make clear to you first, though,is that weddings here in China tend to just involve the wedding reception,as you may know, without the signing of marriage documents, which is usually done in private several months before the wedding, so it's just the reception which I'm going to talk about.

And as for who was there, well,I couldn't tell you everyone, because there were absolutely loads of people, you know, the hall was pretty packed,so my guess would be that there were probably something like 250 to 300 guests, and if I'm not mistaken, it seemed to be that the majority were friends and relatives of the bride and groom, although I also noticed that they had invited quite a few of their colleagues from work as well, because one of them, who I think was her boss, went up on stage to make a speech at some point.

So regarding how I felt at the wedding, well,to put it simply, it was a really wonderful wedding, and there were some parts of it that moved me quite a lot, such as when the bride broke down in tears when she was on stage thanking her parents for all the support they had given was also really clear to see how much the bride and groom loved each other,as they couldn't take their eyes off each other the whole evening,so,I was really happy for them and was glad that I made it to their wedding.

That's pretty much it,I think,so thanks a lot for listening.

Pronunciation(發音)和accent(口音)是很多考生非常擔心的問題,怕考官聽不懂自己的話。

Listen to yourself.

Slow down!

Picture it.

Get physical! 你發this, thank, they,和little, wool等單詞困難嗎?
