我們中國人常用“結爲連理”來表示“結婚”的意思，那麼英語中也類似的表達法叫tie the knot。Tie做動詞用，有“綁，打結”的意思，knot是“結”。Tie the knot字面意思就是“打結”，比喻爲“婚姻的結合”。此外，它還有“舉行婚禮”的意味在其中。
